How can I add an author's name to a free ebook I got on my Kindle, without downloading anything?

I suspect you can't. (That is, I assume you can't open the file & edit it, so I expect you'll have to do something resembling downloading to get it fixed.)



However, I don't have a Kindle, but the Kindle forum at Mobileread.com is full of people who do, and can help you figure out how to adjust your documents so they work better for you.
