Trouble choosing a GPS System......HELP!?

Question

I have been researching GPS systems now for about a week or so and I have changed my mind a dozen times from TomTom One XL to Megellan Roadmate 3000T or 2000, and to Megellan Maestro 4050.... Im just not sure what I want. Here is what I want it to do for me:

*directions to places (of course).
*lotts of POI's (points of interest)---I wanna drive down a HWY, press a button and get tourist attractions in the nearby area.
*good satalite service (ive heard there are two--I want the best)
*easy to use
*pluggable into a cigaret lighter spot for power & charge
*large viewable screen (4inch +)
*touch screen
*under $500.00 in cost.

Can you help me figure out what would be best for what I want?

I just did a lot of research on GPS units. If you're looking for "the best" well, there really is no such thing. Pick your price, and stick to TomTom, Garmin, or Magellan and you will have a winner. I believe Garmin has better sat. tracking, TomTom has ease of use, and Magellan has better maps/POIs (though it varies from model to model).



Really, they're all fine units.

I personally use a system called Mobile Navigator from a company called Navigon. I bought the top-of the-line model for about $530. As I live in Germany, I can't be certain of how it will work in the States yet but it is anything like what I have experienced here, it has my full endorsement.

u left out portability, and traffic updates. but for under 500 that may be out of the question + traffic requires a subscription.
