Question:
Can i return a camera i bought online from Argos? It's not faulty but I have opened it?

I bought a Sony DSC-S730 from Argos and got it delivered yesterday. It's not really what i expected and has very limited features, and has a cheap looking case, to sum up i dont want it!
I opened it to look at, i have my order confirmation as a receipt as it details my purchase.
Under Argos' 16day returns policy they won't accept anything that's been opened. So are we not allowed to return anything if we've changed our mind?
I've worked on a customer service desk before and we gave refunds or exchanges as long as the customer had the original receipt.
Am i screwed, or is there any way i can get my money back?

Thanks in advance
xx

You are stuck with it.

By buying it you agree to their terms and conditions - which is 'This item is excluded from our 16 day money back policy'.

Always read the small print....even if you damaged it (cough cough) so that it didn't work - they would only be liable to replace on a like for like basis.

Go make up a lie that it was the wrong one and anyways they won't really notice the 16 day policy they don't have time. try one argos if they dont accept try another one and say the other argos opened it up and didn't accept it so thats why it's open

Argos is usually very good, seal it as best you can neatly and they wont even notice or care. If asked say you had two given to you, the worst that can happen is they give you a coupon to the value.

Argos are usually very good. Just say it wasn't what you wanted and the build quality is poor. They may only give you store credit, but at least you could put it towards something you do want.

generous return policies are nice, but not required by law.

when buying online, it's best to visit the item in a store first, and make sure you actually want it. They're not obligated to restock the item, but you should call them and ask nicely.

If I ran a retail outlet, I wouldn't be as nice about returns as a lot of them are.

(probably why I should never do it)

They may charge you a restocking fee, which usually covers their postage back to the distributor, since they can't exactly sell it again.
