I've always seen apple products , they are expensive as hell but you can get something that's 2-3 times faster for at least half the price , and most of their "innovations" were already in use , but they just re-brand it and say that they were the first to do so , I don't know about you but chinese companies do the exact same thing but are way cheaper , after all that why are people still buy apple products , they don't just buy them , but they SLEEP IN TENTS NEAR AN APPLE STORE JUST TO BUY THE FIRST OVERPRICED PHONE !!

Quality and reliability.

You get what you pay for - to get another make with the same build quality, performance and reliability, you will be paying a similar (or greater) amount of money.

My two regular-use laptops cost far more than Apple laptops.

I have both Apple and (high-end) Android devices. Both systems have advantages and disadvantages; which I use depends on what I am trying to achieve.

(Present count six Apple devices and two Android devices; plus windows-based gear).

I do not rush out to buy new ones; I usually wait six months to a year after a new product is released, to give it time for any initial hardware/software bugs to be found and fixed and for the price to become more reasonable.

(And I would _not_ have an apple watch - they are stupid, less that a day battery life and a crazy price. I'll stick to Pebble..)

One of the _very_ big points against Android devices is lack of updates. Apple regularly release updates, including for old hardware going back many years.

I don't think either Android device had more than a couple of updates and none after a year or so.

From my opinion it's about quality not about being the best. For example I've had my MacBook Pro for about 4 years now and not once has it failed me. I previously had two windows computers and they died within a year or 2. Also I currently have a Samsung Galaxy s6 and the phone still works fine but my previous iPhone 5 held up much better after a year of heavy use. The downside is their products are boring but that's why people buy Toyotas too right?

"they are expensive as hell but you can get something that's 2-3 times faster for at least half the price..."

You don't understand software optimization very well, do you? My MacBook Pro runs more stable than any Windows machine I've bought for half the price. OS X/macOS, by Unix design, is more efficient, stable, and secure than Windows. Why do I buy Apple? Because it works and doesn't deteriorate in performance as quickly as other options available. If you're looking at paper hardware specifications you're doing things wrong. Hardware specs, at the end of the day, mean nothing if software execution on that more powerful hardware is crap and unstable (*cough* *cough* Android).

& what about the Android flagship phones that are either equal in price or in some cases more expensive? I hope they fall into the "expensive as hell" category as well.

Hope you aren't another one of those on-paper spec people that just see things like the iPhones running dual core processors vs Android phones quad core & automatically assume Android > iPhone, because that is never the case.

& Apple were the 1st to a lot of those things.

Multi touch, primarily touch screen interface, App Store, fingerprint scanners, pressure sensitive displays, virtual assistants, etc. No I am not saying Apple was always 1st.

Mainly becouse its a fashion fad,Android phones do exactly the same and I can see no reason to waste your money,a cheap andoid phone at £50 will do everything you want and more.
