I think my DVD player must be dirty (or broken). Every DVD I try to watch "skips". It's like it is taking still life photos...stops for a few seconds, plays, stops again, etc. What do you think?

first, clean ur dvd disk, get a soft cloth, and wipe OUTWORDS (not around) than try that, the disk may jus be dirty. secondly, if that dosent solve the problem, you can buy for a couple of bucks a 'DVD Head Cleaner' at walmart (or local store of such) it has a little brush on the bottom of the disk, you put it into ur dvd drive, and it uses the brush to clean the heads inside ur drive (dvd player) when it's done, the disk will eject, and ya just mark on the back of the dvd case when ya did it (there only good for close to a dozen (12) uses. when its full up, ya toss it away :D good luck

oh the dvd we have is: Maxwell Thunderon DVD Lens Cleaner (is simple and through instructions)

Two things...could be the DVD player is broken, or the dvd's or player is dirty and needs cleaning. Try cleaning the DVDs with a soft, slightly damp cloth, buff dry with soft cloth, going in circular motions. Try running a cleaning disc in the machine. They are available at electronics stores. The DVD lens that reads the data on the disc maybe dirty as well, consult your owner's manual for ways to clean the lens.

Hope this helps.

you can find DVD cleaning kits at walmarts, best buy, radio shack ect. they range form 7 bucks to over 20.

YOu can also clean your DVD s and keep them in a clean container which helps. DVD s are not a good product and your best bet is to download you DVD music to a portable hard dirve (for playing as a juke box item on your computer)as you wil lose most of your music regardles of how good you keep the DVD clean. They are just no good. You can buy small hard drives you plug in the back of your computer from 16 dollars and up.

They hold a lot of music files and u just unplug them when not in use. Just don';t sell them or recopy for sell.

Go to the store and buy a Laser lens cleaner. Just put it in the DVD player and it will play and you follow the instructions and it will clean the Laser Lens inside. Depending on how dirty you DVD player is, you may want to run the cleaner more than once.

Open it up by taking the top off the DVD player and with a soft clean cloth and some lens cleaner for glasses, wipe across the laser lens in one direction fron left to right. Also clean the dvd discs by wiping from the center to the outside of the disc and work your way aroung the disc.

They sell kits to clean the machines, wtih a DVD you play to clean it out. However if the stone is worn down and that's the reason for skipping chances are even cleaning it won't work well, or for that long. You may need to invest in a new machine. Good luck!

If you go to an electronics store such as Best Buy they sell DVD cleaners that come in the form of a DVD. Try one of those, good luck!

excessive heat in your computer system can cause the skipping too. You can use a general cd cleaner, a disk mad to clean cd players, but if it's heat related, not much you can do other than increase air flow in your system case by purchasing some fans or leaving your case open to keep it cooler.

they have things at stores that you can buy to clean them. like things that are made to clean VCR's but for DVD players... i believe they are fairly inexpensive.

You can buy a can of compressed air and blow the dust out of it.
