I bought a dvd recorder/player that is a Divx dvd player. I have some movies on my computer that I want to watch on it that are avi. I got a program yesterday called acala and it stated that it burned movies on to a dvd so you can watch them on the divx player. I burned it and it said unsupported format. Also burned avi in data form with nero. What gives here I bought the thing so I could watch my movies and it still wont do it. What am I doing wrong? What program burns a compatible divx. I dont get it.

P.S. I am not asking how to convert files to play in regular dvd player I know how to do that it takes to long. I thought that divx player would make things easier. Can someone please shed some light? Thankyou

Unlike regular DVDs that have a rather sophisticated navigation and files structure, Divx movies are just files with either .avi or .divx extension. Your divx authoring program just creates a standard ISO directory and puts the divx files there.

So, first check the Divx discs you create on a computer. Can you see the files? can you play them on your PC?

If your player does not recognize them, it is quite possible it expects a .divx extension on the files (not .avi). So, change the extension on your PC, burn a new Divx disc and try again.

Divx is a type of compression format(mpeg4). You can go to divx.com and down load their product, or take back your gear and exchange it for something that does both standard dvd and divx. that would be your best bet.

while u say u wanna play divx format on DVD participant w/o divx playbck, u honestly won't be able to do this interior the present format. U will hav to transform it, first applying some gadget like DVS Media convertor, or the ideal relatively wud be nero 7 or 8 that converts the divx into DVD (.vob) format formerly writing and u dont hav to be concerned approximately something...
