For a Samsung Galaxy, where you root via an exploit script rather than flashing the bootloader you can't really break the phone. Obviously there is the potential for data loss, so it is highly recommended that you back everything up before rooting.

The worst that can happen is your phone will get stuck in a boot loop, to which you can fix it with only minimal trouble. Luckily your phone model is relatively easy to root, so the risks are very low, and there are even a few one click root programs that will do it automatically for you.

It's great to root. I was afraid to root, but it's very worth it. You can make it faster and make it last longer. You can upgrade the software, customize it better, and your carrier doesn't have to know you rooted ;)

No,its never good to root your phone, but if it helps iv rooted my HTC EVO design 4g,a brand new phone and it works better now then it did when I first got it,faster, smarter and battery lasts longer
