I'm looking for an affordable desk lamp that can fit the cheap standard, common light bulbs you always see at stores.

There's one lamp at walmart here: http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=10984058

It says it uses a "60-watt Type A medium base bulb". Is that the common light bulb or is it something else? I thought the standard type was A19?

I'm also open to any other desk lamp recommendations, not only at walmart...

A type "A" bulb is a pear shaped bulb, and 60A would be a 19 "unit" bulb, a unit being 1/8", which most light bulbs are measured in for width. Medium base is the standard Edison screw base most light bubs have.

Actually, you are right as is Wallmart.

I think the word "medium" though is referring to the size/wattage of the bulb.

The picture above should make it pretty clear.
