I think it's the next best thing besides email to communicate with people. Also i was wondering where could i get text messaging jokes.

it's great and i love it! i chat with my friends on AIM and i have fun. The good thing about AIM is that i can ask people for help on homework. I wish i had more people on my buddy list. If u have an AIM sn, you can give it 2 me. This is my question: Who has Aol Instant Messenger screen names?!? (i have it posted since yesterday).

It depends on the country you're in.
If it's a first-world country, then girl, text messaging is like a waste of time. Calling someone would be cheaper and much less time consuming.
But if you're living in a third-world country like mine, text messaging is like a way of life now. It's also the other way around, text messaging is actually cheaper than calling per minute!
No wonder people here waste their time text messaging someone like, "What's our plan?" when you could always talk about it over the phone. It takes too much precious time to reply your "plan" to that person.
But jokes and quotes are okay. They're quite cute actually. It's the "communication" that's been bothering me. Thanks for bringing it up though!

I like text messaging. It works extremely well when I have a quick question to ask my ex and don't want to get into a lengthy conversation. Some cell phone providers let you sign up for different things like horoscopes and jokes etc.

I think it is just doing more to break down the normal societal bonds of communications. It isn't like people are actually communicating, they are just sending inane babble between each other. Only a very small (probably less than 1%) contain dialogue that will be worth anything in the future to people.

Text messaging is okay when needed, but you lose the human interaction when you don't hear the persons voice. This leads to people guess at intent. But I still like using text messaging and it is a handy tool.

I like it but I wish that it was included in the price of your plan already though, not just something separate. Or so that you don't have to pay to send and receive them. Some companies vary though

In my country, we called it as SMS; short messaging system and it's very helpful to us but I still believe there are pros and cons on this technological advancedment.

I don't do it. I use my cell phone for phone calls. If I want to send email I use a computer.

TOTALLY HATE IT! WASTE OF TIME AND ENERGY! QUICKER TO JUST PICK UP THE DAMN PHONE AND CALL THAT PERSON. TOO MANY TIMES PEOPLE MISUNDERSTAND WHAT YOU ARE TRYING TO SAY AND WAY TOO FRUSTRATING!
