The receiver probably uses a UHF remote (the platinum one). Since it uses radio waves, other people in the neighborhood may be using their remotes which is causing your channels to change.
There is a way to change the addressing of the remote signal. You'll have to look in the manual on changing the remote address, or search on Dish's web site for the manual and look it up. It's fairly easy to do, but I don't remember the exact procedure.

Do you have a dual tuner receiver? If you do have a dual tuner (1 box that does 2 tvs) you will need both remote controls in the room where the receiver is. The main remote has a green number 1on the bottom of it, take this remote and am it at the receiver then press the menu button 2x, this should take you to the system info, now look down to the bottom of the screen you'll will see 2 boxes one green the other blue, notice what number is in the blue box, now grab the 2 remote with the blue number 2 on it and aim it at the receiver now press and hold the SAT button at the top of the remote. Hold it down for about 2 sec or until the other 3 buttons at the top start flashing then release the SAT button, then move down to the number buttons. Press the number 8, then press the # button twice (its the very last button on the remote) the press the record button and now there should be an 8 in the blue box, it so use the first remote to get out of the menu problem solved.

If I were you, I will change the remote address on your remote. Someone is changing that for you.
Step 1. Unplug any other receiver you got at home.
Step 2. Turn receiver On and go to system information. The easy way is by pushing the sys info button on your remote control.
Step 3. Press and hold the sat button for 5 seconds.
Step 4. While is flashing, release sat button & press a number between 2-10. Let's say 5.
Step 5. Press # key.
Step 6 Press REC button right away
And you done. You should see, your remote address has changed to 5. That should fix your problem.

I have DirecTV now, but I used to have that happen with Dish. Very annoying. It may even be a neighbors remote changing your channel. There is a way to program your receiver/remote to the same frequency so others won't interfere. Look in your manual.

Right now they are planning to move the N to channel 177, replacing the low rated Nick GAS. They are having difficulties moving the channels around, so they will keep the regular channels going until it is fixed. Even though the program guide says that there are children's shows on all day, they will still be showing the split channel (noggin/N) with the regular schedule until the problem is fixed. Just ignore the program guide during the hours that the N is supposed to be on.

I have the same problem and it is not a freq problem, as a test I turned the TV off and right back on and in the matter of 3 sec the channel changed and the channel it was on was not even in the recall list. this is a new problem that started very recently
What gives

You need to set the "remote address" as you probably have two remotes set to the same address. Instructions for reprogramming remotes:
on of the other remots may be programmed to that receiver accidental so when someone else changes the chanel call s=dish they can walk u through checking it

Did anyone ever get a valid answer/fix for this issue? We only have one receiver hooked up to one tv and it happens every single time!!!
