I have an old Zenith Console model B953 record player. I use it almost every day but it doesn't quite drop records right when put in the "auto setting" or as the dial say "REJ" it try's to play the record then shuts off. I'm wondering if anyone has any back round info on this player and any knowledge on how to adjust it. It has settings for FM, FM-AFC, AM, TAPE( which it does not have a tape deck) and PHONO. Music sounds AMAZING out of it and I blow my friends away when I crank it up.( I've herd it has something called "floating speakers in it) If anyone can give me a little back round on this piece of hardware as well as worth, care/maintenance, how to adjust the auto record settings would be GREATLY APPRECIATED , soooooo anybody REALLY know ANY of this ??????

On some of these units. the Spindle comes out. To remove it,

pull it straight out. Do not bend it. Chances are that the old grease

inside the turn table mechanism is hard like wax and will not allow

the parts of the rejection assembly to slide properly. Do not use

WD-40, as this can gum parts after a short time. It would work at

first, then do the same thing again. Use Liquid Wrench spray.

Remove the turntable from it's seat. Place it on it's side Upon

examination, you will see what I'm talking about. Don't over-spray,

as this will cause more problems. Only use very short bursts of

the spray where it's needed. This should take care of this issue

that you have. Feel free to e-me, as I will do the best I can to help

you get it going again and answer any other questions that you

may have concerning your unit.

it is a lot like my parents Philco hifi from the tube era. the "tape" is what they called the auxillary input, it is a line level connection for any external device. the speakers were electrostatic and had a very clean high frequency presentation. i am afraid that the changer mechanism has worn out. the delrin trips wear down. what i did with ours is replace the changer with a generic BSR unit.
