My brother put my 5 month old Nintendo DS light, Limited edition blue, in the sink full of dirty, soapy water and I've left it to dry for about 2 days. I turn it on about once a day and it started out just being blank, and you could see the water damage to i can see the nintendo DS sign on the top screen. I don't know wether to chuck it and buy a new one or keep it because it will dry out and fix itself.

PLEASE HELP!!!!!!

I think you need to replace it, it may be turning on, but there with be damage to the internal components.

If it was your brother that damaged it, then he should be the one to buy you a replacement, if he did it on purpose, then next time he may think twice.

Well, it's days could very well be numbered, especially since you turned it on already. Prolly should of opened it up as much as possible and let it dry out longer. There's always the chance you can still get it to work though. Open it up.. remove baterry... let dry out for a few days without trying it. Can also try a circuit safe cleaner to rinse it out. Radioshack sells a product called Deoxit that cleans and deoxidizes. Can try that on the nooks and crannies as well as the battery. Stuff is like $20 bucks though.

If you can't get it to work, however, there is still some more hope, before you go ahead and buy a new one. Nintendo actually has repair services and their website actually does list information on self repair steps as well as information on sending it into them for repair. Here is a link specifically to the section about water damage to a DS Lite.......

http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/dslite/trouble_system.jsp#liquid

Or to cut out the middle man... their Costumer Service number is 1-800-255-3700.

Cheers.

Soap is not Ph neutral its a base

Over time it will destry the plastic flex connectors

and solder

It needs to be opened real soon and washed with denatured

alcohol

And placed under an exhaust fan hood to dry out properly

You could hope for the best

just get out a hairdryer and move it around for about 30 mins

but very unlikely it will fix all

there are areas inside that are wet that the air wont reach

Do NOT turn it on if it's wet. Take it apart and rinse it off thoroughly with running water, then let it dry out for a few days. If you do that it should work fine, assuming you didn't already fry it when you turned it on.
