Question:
Why am I unable to play Amazon dvds on my dvd player?
2010-08-24 19:51:06 UTC
I purchased 5 DVDs on Order ID002-9395926-9462618. I am able to play all other commercial DVDs. The movies are DEFIANCE, THE BOY IN THE STRIPED PAJAMAS, CHANGELING & DOUBT. The message I am getting is "This disc cannot be played, please check the regional code of this disc." I believe I should have received DVDs for PAL. Please advise.

Are you having problems with your DVD player playing rentals?

Follow these simple rules to put an end to it:

Step 1: Go to your rental store

Go to a rental store, like Blockbuster, and find a DVD title you want to rent. Be sure to ask the salesperson, "I have a DVD player sensitive to scratches on the DVD, and DVD rentals are such examples. Do you have (your movie here) on DVD with no scratches on it?"

The salesperson will then ask to bring a couple copies of your DVD so that he can look for scratches on the disc. Be sure to take the better copy and say "Thanks."

Step 2: Play!

At home, be sure to follow these rules:

1. Visually inspect the disc (even though it already was inspected). Try to check the disc over and over again prior to your playing time.

2. The DVD player may have a difficult time reading the disc before it starts up and has the Warning notice. Take a few minutes to try.

3. (Optional) Use the menu on the disc to set the best possible picture and sound before selecting "Play Movie."

4. If your DVD player has a resume function, push "Stop" instead of "Pause", or don't take a break at all!

5. Even if these rules don't work, try renting other DVDs, since the disc quality may vary.

6. Always watch the bonus features AFTER the movie. (Or before if you're running out of time.)

7. (Optional) Use a good luck charm, like a right-side up horseshoe, on top of the playing unit, and cross your fingers and hope you will be renting DVDs forever!

Step 3: After the movie

After the film, watch the extra features, or play in other languages! That's what I always do after watching the movie! Be sure to take back your DVDs by the due date, or you can't rent movies anymore!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent SACD/DVD player.

I bought this 2 weeks ago from BestBuy. I was looking to purchase a new DVD player to go with my new home theater setup and thought I'd buy one that played both DVD Audio and SACD. Most good universal players are quite expensive, like maybe a Denon or Marantz. I found two that were affordable and available, the Sony NS775 and the Pioneer 578A. The Pioneer plays DVD-A,...

I really wanted to love this DVD player. I am a big Sony fan and waited for this unit to come out due to complaints regarding the DVP725 (it's predecessor). Once I got it home, I took it out of the box and hooked it up. The resulting picture, once the setup was complete, just blew me away! The progressive scan output on this unit through the component out just blew me away(repeated for emphasis) on my HDTV! The picture rivalled that of units I'd seen costing hundreds more. The features on the player are plentiful and useful. Then came the problem!

3 of the first 10 movies I watched froze up during playback. I noted the points on each DVD and tried them on four other players, including my older Sony, an XBox, and a newer Sony combo unit, and a portable. None of the other units had any problem with any of the discs. I took the player back and swapped it out for another. This new unit, too, froze in the exact same spots. I went back, again, to the retailer, and we tried 2 of the DVDs in their floor model. It did the same thing in the exact same spots! We tried the DVDs in several other demo models. None had a problem with the DVDs, only the Sony!

Reluctantly, I swapped the unit out for another brand. The picture on my new unit is quite good; however, not, in my opinion, as good as the Sony. It, however, has not frozen once with the dozens of movies I've played through it.

With an extensive DVD collection, I was not about to risk a 30% freeze rate on my movies! (These were not scratched or old DVDs. Two were new and one was only being watched for the second time!)

While we don't know where you are from, there may be a problem with region code settings as well. I'm not sure if either of your apps remove region code or not, as I use dvd shrink and dvd-dcrypter. I agree with ghosters on the media issue, My samsung hates -r media

Are you having issues along with your DVD participant playing leases? persist with those common regulations to place an end to it: Step a million: pass on your condo save pass to a condo save, like Blockbuster, and hit upon a DVD call you desire to lease. be useful to ask the shop clerk, "I easily have a DVD participant comfortable to scratches on the DVD, and DVD leases are such examples. Do you have (your action picture right here) on DVD with out scratches on it?" the shop clerk will then ask to deliver a pair copies of your DVD so as that he can seek for scratches on the disc. be useful to take the extra powerful replica and say "thank you." Step 2: Play! At homestead, be useful to persist with those regulations: a million. Visually examine out the disc (whether it already became inspected). attempt to ascertain the disc repeatedly returned past on your playing time. 2. The DVD participant would have a complicated time examining the disc earlier it starts up and has the warning be conscious. Take a jiffy to attempt. 3. (optionally available) Use the menu on the disc to set the perfect accessible image and sound earlier finding out on "Play action picture." 4. in the journey that your DVD participant has a resume function, push "stop" rather of "Pause", or do no longer take a destroy in any respect! 5. whether those regulations do no longer artwork, try renting different DVDs, with the aid of fact the disc high quality would selection. 6. continually watch the bonus good factors AFTER the action picture. (Or earlier in case you're determining of time.) 7. (optionally available) Use an excellent success allure, like a suitable-area up horseshoe, on top of the playing unit, and pass your hands and need you would be renting DVDs continually! Step 3: After the action picture After the action picture, watch the extra good factors, or play in different languages! that's what I continually do after staring on the action picture! be useful to take returned your DVDs by potential of the due date, or you may no longer lease video clips anymore! For extra counsel, permit me comprehend! thank you, and experience the tutor!

I never write reviews, but this one is a stinker worth commenting on. First thing out of the box and out from under the slip of paper that says "Guaranteeed Region Free", it rejected a video as out of region. I called the company and was walked through a process to "reset" it. Then the screen went completely blank/dead after about 45 minutes watching the first video. The only good comment I can make is the poor soul who works the phones at Cyberhome is a nice, helpful guy who doesn't try to talk you out of getting your money back. I'm sure he gets lots of practice. Don't waste your time with shipping and returning. Just don't buy it.

The PDVD170 Portable DVD Player CH-LDV 700B All Region Code / Zone Free 110/220 NTSC PAL (1) ] SUCKS! I can not get it to play ANY of my DVDs. Okay, I got it to play 1 lousy photo disk. Big WHOOPEE, I didn't purchase this thing so I could only look at a ONE disk of photos.

The DVDs I tried to play on it were a wide range that easily play on my Panasonic DVD-LS5 unit, my Toshiba pc, and my Sanyo VHS/DVD players. I load them and they INSTANTLY play.

I tried brand new ones (fresh out of the box). I tried older ones,'homeburned', CDs and copies. NONE of them would play on this piece of garbage. They all work fine on my other electronic devices.

According to the manual - Page 19 - I quote: "Close the disc tray and the unit will automatically start playback of the disk." HA! The only disk it played back was a photo disk. I tried 12 different types of DVD, CD and photo disk. The ONLY one that worked was the photo. 1 out of 12 ARE NOT good odds.

SO, I re-read the manual. On page 5 (and page 33) it says that this is a region 1 player (That's the ONLY type of media I attempted to use and NONE of it worked.) WHAT? I bought this so I could play everything, from my region one to some imports I had planned on getting. Also, there are no codes in the manual so that you could change it from Region 1 to All Region code/Zone Free.

Oh and the DVD kept spinning half the time when the Disk Door was opened. Dangerous!

The only bright spot was how quickly I got this junk. I hope they refund me just as quickly.
