dvd player - it sometimes skips when playing a DVD?

hi i have a dvd it works well except from the fact that on quite a few dvds that i play it tends to freeze frame for a couple of secounds then it starts skiping , i have tried a cleaning dvd which you put and it cleans the laser and other stuff , i have also tried wipes for the dvd's in question as i thougth it may be straches on the dvds can you please help

Nothing wrong - the DVD you are playing is probably DUAL LAYER - there is a slight pause as it transfers to the second layer on the disc.



The skipping shouldn't occur but sometimes does - not on all discs - sometimes even a small smudge can make them skip.



If it is an older DVD player this is more common -

If the DVD disc is the cause of the problems, you can usually see scrtaches on the surface. If no scratches/dirt are evident, it is likely the DVD that player requires some repairs. Depending on the price of the player, it is almost always too costly to repair, versus buying new one.
