Plasma and LCD are two types of video displays and are commonplace for HDTV. HDTV does not have to be plasma or LCD, nor does plasma or LCD have to be HD.

You'll find that all of today's plasma and LCD screens are high definition. There's no specific relationship between them and HDTV, but large flat high resolution screens are more practical with those technologies than with CRT picture tubes.
