Question:
Next Generation Kindle?

I'm thinking of buying a Kindle, but I was wondering if I should wait for the next generation to come out. I like the latest generation with the international wireless that was released, but I was wondering:

1. When the next generation will come out, and
2. What additional features it will have (for instance a touch screen).

Does anyone know anything about this?

I think it really takes some time for the next generation to come out. There isn't much about next generation yet, but I think it is unlikely for them to add touch screen. A few other ebook readers add touch screen and it turns out making the screen more glare, as touch screen needs to add an extra layer to screen.

I own the Kindle 2, and I think it is excellent. I've to say I love it! I think I've read over 30 books with my Kindle, no glitches so far! And there are some improvements came out last week:

And I remember I read these reviews about the benefits of the Kindle when I decided to buy it:

Finally, in case you don't know, Amazon has just put a price slash on the Kindle 2, and it is now selling $100 cheaper than the price I got my Kindle, and it adds in international wireless access and native PDF support... So take the chance if you want it.

Hope it helps :)

I don't suggest to wait for the next generation. It will be next year and price will not be low when it first launched. You'll need to wait for a few more months for the new device to go down in price. The Amazon Kindle 2 is now selling at a very good price, and Amazon has announced that the sales of Kindle 2 break all previous record in November. So take the chance to get the Kindle 2.

I suggest you to read this review from a top reviewer who is also a book lover, it outlines quite a lot of benefits of the Kindle and also why it is worth especially at the end of the review:

BTW, there are some websites like these two, where you can find more than ten thousand free books for the Kindle. So no need to go to library to borrow them, you can actually own them:

Hope this helps.

No one knows the answer to these questions. Amazon isn't going to release information like this in advance to give their competitors time to respond before hand honestly. They have said the next release will be an international edition of the DX sometime early next year.

As for what features, the touch screen is debatable. They may decide that's a feature that's not necessary (honestly do you want finger smudges all over your reading surface?) If they know what features they're putting in the new kindle, no one's telling.

I own the Kindle 2, and it is easy for me to say I love it! I think I've read over 20 books so far.

I love my Kindle because it has helped me improve a lot on my efficiency and utilize my time. Before I owned the Kindle, waiting time like when I'm waiting for friends or waiting for shuttle bus or some thing like that is simply wasted. Now I just need to bring the Kindle 2 along with me. Another thing I like the most is the text-to-speech function, which means I can "read" books without even holding or looking at the Kindle. Now I like to use this function when I've myself busy on some boring things, say when I'm on the step machine or doing some housework...

I like reading and at the beginning I missed a bit on the feeling of reading books. But now I love to hold the Kindle, the e-ink seems to work very well, it is really like reading books... Now I often read with the Kindle for several hours but I don't feel tired.
