Wiring question for any "AxeTechs" out there. building a Modded Strat and not using the conventional 500k Volume/Tone Pot set-up. I am using 500k Push Pull Pots for volume control for (EACH HB) there are 3 total and each has its own Push Pull Pot on (Neck and Bridge) and a regular 500k Seymour Duncan Volume abd Tone for the middle Lipstick HB. Both the neck and bridge are using the push pull pots for volume and down and up is phase switching. The middle HB is just coil split as the other 2 are as well with on/on/on mini toggles. even though I do not have tone control can I still put a tone cap on the push pulls and middle volume pot?

Hello there,

You can convert any (or all) of the push/pulls to be a tone control in addition to being a volume control. I would think the best route would be make each push/pull the volume and tone for one particular pickup. Here is how you would wire the push/pull to be both a volume and tone pot for a humbucker.

Instead of running from the volume side to the output jack, with 3 pickups I presume you wil wire to a switch.

It's possible to put a tone cap on the middle volume pot. You haven't said what the pickup selection switch does, i.e. is it a three or five way position, If it's a five which mixes two pickups it seems a bit pointless to add a cap in the middle postion as either the neck or bridge tone control will do the job. You could of courcse use "no load" tone controls in those positions. For some general guitar wiring hints check out http://www.guitarelectronics.com/category/wiring_resources_guitar_wiring_diagrams/
