Question:
Can I view the outgoing fax transactions made on a personal fax machine?

I had faxed an important paper from a personal fax machine at a small business store. Now the person on the receiving end wants evidence that I did actually fax something to that number before a certain time on a certain day. I have Verizon. Is there any way I would be able to get that information so that I could show it to that person?
Please this is a very urgent matter and I appreciate all input.

Also, I had received a call on my home phone (also Verizon) and before I could write down the number a family member had erased all of the caller ID information. Could I call Verizon and have that number given to me, since incoming calls are not listed on my bill.

Thanks :-)

Did you call the small business where you used the fax machine? They would be the only ones who would have the answer you seek. Fax machines generally remember the number dialed and the day/date it was dialed. They generally do NOT store copies of your faxed documents. Call quickly. The memory is not infinite, and the information may drop off the list OR the owner may delete the information.

I know the police can obtain records of who called your phone number, so I'm sure Verizon has those records. Did you call them and ask?

Most fax machines have a set of reports that you can print. On our HP fax the one you need is called the "Status Report" and it lists the phone number called, the number of pages transmitted, how long it took, the time the transmission started. That sounds like what you need. Sorry, I don't have any information about Verizon retrieving a phone number for you.

the fax machine should be able to print a log of all of the faxes it sent. you should be able to go on line or in the manual to find out how to print it. fax machines can print a confirmation after every fax they send that has the date, time, pages, number it went to, and if it was successful send or not. hope this helps.
