Im a Media studnet and Im buying a pair of headphones this weekend because my work envolves alot of practical work like editing on Macs and they will also be used for personal use like music and stuff and i dont know which ones to get, I tired out Beats, Solo and Studio are both really amazing but the thing i dont like about Solo is that they get very uncomfortable as they dont fit in your whole ear, The Studio ones are Amazing and i have no complaints about them but quiet a few of my friends have Boze, The Noise Canceling one and the other one and they tell me that Boze are better and cheaper, I believe that they are saying this because they are cheaper and they cant afford Beats but i dont know and i have heard that a brand of the sennheisers that are way cheaper and way better then both of them. But Money is not really an issue because i got alot of gift vouches for hmv that i want to get rid of. Im really Condsiering buying the Beats: Studio by Dr Dre but im really not sure. If it helps im into alot of Dubstep,Rap, R&B, Rock and a lil bit of Metal, Im looking for the best sound, the bass, the comfort and the Quality, Im not really bothered about Noise Canceling ive heard that Boze are really good for that but i also heard that Beats Studio are just as good. So im pritty much looking for the best headphones, Please dont recomend me any other brands of headphones, Because i had a pair of Skullcandy which broke after a month, Im only considery These 3 praticaly Beats or Boze and money is not and issue.

Thanks

When talking about Beats by Dre, they work best with the genres that you mentioned. The bass is crisp and clear even on the very low end and there is a good distinction. The noise canceling works fairly well, though it won't do much for higher frequencies. The Bose would be better if noise canceling was a big deal for you, but since you said it is not, between Beats by Dre (Studio) and Bose I would pick Beats for those genres every time. You will find that the Beats are lightweight and the ear cups breath nicely so you're good for a long haul.

If you were a true audiophile, Sennheiser sells the best headphones you could possibly get on the market, but they are in the $1300 and require a dedicated amplifier. However their lower end models can be very good. The Sennheiser HD-595's are about $150 - $170 I think and they deliver superb sound quality for their cost. The bass is full and clear, and they are very comfortable. The drawback is that they have an open back, meaning that while they completely cover the ear, there is some sound leakage. It will be considerably less than if you were wearing ear buds, but not as quiet as the Bose or Beats. I recommend the 595's especially because they will work fine off of a computer or mp3 player without needing a dedicated headphone amp.

Honestly though, if you're looking for good sound quality at a reasonable price (and still fashionable) take a look at the Phiaton MS 400 series (http://www.stereophile.com/headphones/phiaton_moderna_ms_400_headphones). They are a step up from the Sennheiser HD 595's and they offer better sound quality (my opinion) than the Beats by Dre, though they don't have noise cancelling.

the best headphones you can get for sound quality is SkullCandy. and not those 40 dollar craps you see at best buy or wal-mart. but the damn good ones they have at http://www.skullcandy.com/

ive seen them on there before for up to 250 dollars a pair. Skull Candy is very thorough, and very picky about their products and what materials go into them.

If you are lucky you could get the new mixmasters but they are out of stock on the website... maybe amazon will have them

man,, do not go with bose ,skullcandy or beats ,, they all are overpriced and sound like crap,,,

you can check headphone of your choice at

www.head-fi.org.

BTW some good brands are Grado, ultrasone, sennhieser,AKG, Stax, Koss,Denon, Shure,, do some research on internet and on head fi.Those who are recommending skullcandy and beats know nothing about audio.
