Question:
Best loud portable speaker for a dance class?

I need to get a portable speaker for the upcoming dance season. I mainly care about loudness, and that it is small enough that I can get it from my car to the classroom. And one that I can connect my iPhone to with a m/m audio cable.

I have been using computer speakers, because they are loud, portable and cheap. They tend to break quickly though; I find myself replacing them yearly, probably because of touting them back and forth in a bag, which I suppose they're not meant for.

I've been looking at the "G-Boom" by G-Project portable bluetooth speaker, but I'm concerned it won't last as long because of the rechargeable battery.

So, I need something:
-Loud enough to fill small classroom. I'd rather it be much louder than you think that needs to be
-Small enough to tout from my car to the classroom. As long as I'm able to carry it it'll be good

Oh please! Bose is overpriced crap. pucman has absolutely no idea what he / she / it is talking about and should not be answering questions in this category. Anyone who knows anything about high fidelity or pro audio knows that Bose is geared towards gullible people and wives who don't want to look at speakers larger than a soup can in their living room.

What you need are a pair of speakers. Not one. Music has been in two channel stereo sound since the late 1950s. Lets not backslide here. It will also enable you to position them so between the two, all parts of the room have a speaker directly pointed at it. Reflected sound is distorted sound. Look how modern concert sound system speakers are set up.

You wantr pro or semi pro sound type speakers - active ones. Portable in the sense that they are not huge and can take the knocks. Something with an eight inch woofer should fit the bill being small enough to easily move around and still large enough to sound descent with some bottom end and not distort when loud.

Behringer is budget prop sound stuff. JBL Is pricer but worth it. There are many other brands as well/ KRK makes some very good active speakers. They may well be your best bet.

Otherwise, just do a search on "active PA speakers" and choose one that fits you needs. The links I gave are just from one vendor and small sampling of what is out there. Bose! Pah! Buy Other Sound Equipment. You want to look like a professional, right? You need professional equipment.

I would check out massdrop.

They have tons of awesome audio gear including wireless and bluetooth speakers.

The community votes on the products they want to see for sale, then massdrop contacts the manufacturer/supplier and negotiates a cheaper price for doing a group buy.

I just picked up some sweet headphones there and have seen some nice speakers there too.

They have a pro audio section and an audiophile section. Check it out!

You might just want to get a good, old fashioned boom box. Some of them have an AUX input that you can plug in an iPhone or anything else you might want to. Avoid Bose though. That's good advice.
