Belkin Tunecast Fm transmitter making songs static?

I am tryin to use my zune in my expedition with the Belkin tunecast Fm transmitter and all the stations no matter which one i pick they all give a little bit of static when i play songs from my zune. Is there somthin I can do too fix this or does someone know if there is a better FM transmitter and if the Zune one is good

Well, the little Belkin FM transmitters use the cable that connects to the player as its antenna. I am not sure where the radio antenna is in your Expedition, but typically it is routed horizontally along the upper edge of your windshield. For best results you:



1) Need to pick a really vacant FM channel. This can be hard to do in a big city where all the FM channels are used. The Tunecast models only have 4 channels to choose from. I think Belkin made a big mistake doing this. The earlier Belkins allowed it to be tuned across the entire FM band which made it easier to find a vacant channel. If you live in a big city you will be much happier if you can find one that tunes the whole band. The over the air FM station will make noise and "static" if it is equal to or stronger than the signal from the Belkin. Sounds like that is what is happening to you.



2) Couple the Belkin "tightly" to your car radio antenna. Run the Belkin cable that goes to the audio source parallel to the radio antenna of your car. Move it as close to the antenna as you can. This may mean that you have to put your zune and route the Belkin cable above the sun visor to get it closer to the antenna so that it overpowers the signal from the local FM station. Try it on the dashboard first and see how well it works. Move it to the visor (closer to your car antenna) if you need to.



3) Be sure that the Belkin has fresh batteries or is plugged into the accessory outlet. That will help the radio output be strongest from the Belkin so that it can overpower the local FM station.
