It is a dvd/vcr. The vcr part works fine, but when I try to play a dvd the hour glass icon stays on in the top right corner of the tv. It also makes this weird clicking noise. It doesn't play the dvd. What could be wrong with it? It is brand new. It isn't mine, but I had to hook it all up for them(they had bought a new toshiba tv with it too) and it worked fine last friday when I hooked everything up. But the other day they tried watching another dvd and it didnt play. But it had played before it started messing up. What can I do?

did they know how to tune their tv for viewing dvds? Sometimes that can be tricky

Anyone accidentally dsiconnect cables?

Try power the dvd/vcr off and disconnect from tv, reconnect after 10 minutes - should wipe out a stalled process (you see hour glass)

Take player to place of shop and have them figure out if it is defective.

Are cables in goo conditionand well connected? A sharp kink in a cable could mean cable is no good

Alot of times DVDs will have spyware on it, not mainstream DVDs but underground stuff, ripped DVDs, porn, etc. It happened to my DVD player too when I played a movie that was ripped from bitcomet. It will cause the player to not load what is on the disc, or just make it more problematic. Try going to a Toshiba troubleshoot site and see if they have a program that you can copy to a disc to reformat your player, thats the best answer I have

sounds like the micro processor is malfunctioning, it is pretty simple to fix with household objects. Just cover the outside of the dvd player with mayonaise and splooge
